  • Responsible tourism in the tropical paradise of Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat is often referred to as “the last paradise on Earth”, and after experiencing even a small taste of what it has to offer, it’s easy to see why. Ancient forests and lush, verdant landscapes amazed at every turn. Beneath the surface, the marine life was nothing short of breathtaking, while on land, encounters with metre-long crabs, extraordinary marsupials, and unfamiliar reptiles left lasting impressions. It’s impossible to leave Raja Ampat without being filled with a profound appreciation for the natural world — and an overwhelming desire to protect it from the mounting environmental challenges of modern life. This may seem like an insurmountable task to many, but for founder Max Ammer and his team of responsible travel pioneers, it’s a mission they take on with unwavering commitment every single day.

Getting to Raja Ampat isn’t simple — but with careful planning and enough time, it’s far

  • The perfect vegan staycation in Bangkok

Being based in the region, we are lucky to enjoy frequent weekends and staycations in Bangkok. As vegan foodies, these visits always revolve around where we are going to eat and where best to stay to access our favourite vegan eateries. For us, staying in and around the Sukhumvit area provides easy access to countless vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants, and if we wish to travel further afield, a short walk to the BTS makes this simple. However, with so many hotels to choose from in the vicinity, we are truly spoilt for choice. On our most recent vegan staycation in Bangkok, we decided to check out two new hotels to see what they had to offer. Of course, both had vegan and plant-based options, so in addition to enjoying our rooms, the service, and relaxing by the pool, we were in town to eat vegan food – lots of it.

  • Sustainable luxury in the Maldives

The Maldives is a collection of 26 coral atolls in the Indian Ocean that is globally renowned for luxury island resorts, over water bungalows, pristine white sand beaches and extraordinary marine life. Each atoll is unique, made by the slow erosion of volcanic islands which leave a ring of coral islands surrounded by the clear blue waters that are synonymous with this luxury holiday destination. With more than 250 species of hard coral and 1100 species of fish calling the Maldives home, we need to be collectively responsible for their survival. Tourism is still growing in the Maldives and with new resorts opening each and every year, it is now more important than ever to promote and support sustainable tourism initiatives.

It’s our responsibility as global travellers to make sustainable choices wherever possible. Of course, our actions in flying around the world

  • Our vegan first class experience with British Airways

Whilst long haul trips in business class have been a regular part of our global travels in recent years, for which we are of course eternally grateful, our recent Singapore to London return flights in first class were an extra special treat. Often referred to as the ‘super jumbo’, our flights in both directions with British Airways were on board one of their A380’s along with 469 fellow passengers. The first class cabin has only 12 seats and has a 1-2-1 format, ensuring a certain sense of space and exclusivity. Many have written previously, and many will continue to write about the airline, the aircraft and the seat, but this article is all about the food, the vegan food in particular which is globally identified in the industry as a VGML meal. For anyone who has ordered ‘special meals’ on their flights, the possibility of it not being loaded, being

In between exploring the old town and soaking up the coastal vibes, we squeezed in a round of ‘jungle golf’, checked out the largest museum in Malaysia and marvelled at the untamed wilderness of Bako National Park. • Finding the feel-good factor in southern Thailand

Our recent experience with JW Marriott was the perfect feel-good escape and exactly what we had hoped for during our short vacation in southern Thailand. There was of course plenty of relaxing, and we most certainly embraced everything that the luxury resorts we stayed with had to offer, but the feel-good factor also came from the delicious plant based food that we enjoyed, and the planet friendly initiatives that were clear to see. With the global hospitality industry having such a huge impact on the environment and our planet, it’s essential that they are making moves to lessen that impact and operate more sustainably. One of the ways to make a difference is through the food that they serve, with sourcing, food waste and ingredients needing to be scrutinised to ensure that sustainability goals are reached. Both of the JW Marriott resorts in southern Thailand have increased the plant based

  • Vegan Maldives is really a thing and you’re going to love it

Having had the opportunity to travel to the Maldives multiple times during the past ten years, now in 2024 we are happy to say that the Maldives is indeed a vegan friendly destination. It wasn’t easy at first, when extensive research was needed pre trip to ensure that we selected a resort that could not only cater for our dietary requirements, but that we would be excited and impressed by the plant based food that we were served. That task is now much easier as more and more Maldivian resorts add vegan and plant based dishes and menus to their extensive culinary offerings. You only need to google ‘vegan Maldives’ and the proof is there, multiple options catering to varying budgets where as a vegan, you will most certainly not go hungry on your next trip to this unique destination.
